Free 'Introductory Energetic Herbalism' workshop with Amie Daniels
On Saturday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m., Clinical Herbalist Amie Daniels will offer a special workshop sponsored by the Good Tern Food Co-op: “Introductory Energetic Herbalism” at Hole in the Wall Bagels, 754 Main Street in Rockland.
This Energetic Herbalism workshop will help individuals understand the different qualities of medicinal herbs and will introduce Ayurvedic doshas, or an individual’s constitution, to help determine which herbs match best with a person’s body type. There will be a voluntary tasting of some herbs in tea and tincture form at the end of the workshop.
Participation is free; to sign up, go to goodtern.com/events or call 207-594-8822.
In Energetic Herbalism a medicinal herb or plant is matched to an individual. The energetic qualities of herbs can be dry/moist, cool/warm, and relaxing/toning. These same qualities apply to a person’s body as well, which is known as one’s constitution, or dosha in Ayurvedic medicine. For example, if an individual’s constitution is generally dry and hot, then an herbalist will recommend herbs that are moistening and cooling. In this workshop, Daniels will discuss the energetics of some medicinal herbs and help participants discover their individual constitutions.
Instructor Amie Daniels studied Clinical Herbalism at Greenwood Herbals in Limerick, Maine under Debbie Mercier in 2023 and 2024. Daniels lives in Rockland and offers herbal consultations, hosts workshops and herb walks, and creates small batch herbal preparations. More information about her can be found at rootedandlifted.com.
According to Daniels, “Learning about medicinal herbs has helped me to know more about my body and my health. I love sharing this information with others because it is magical and empowering—everyone should know about how healing plants can be!”
