Finding Our Voices awarded $4,150 from International Women’s Club

Finding Our Voices, a grassroots survivor-powered nonprofit breaking the silence of domestic abuse, was awarded $4,150 from the International Women’s Club of New England at a luncheon January 21, 2022, in York.

Every January the IWCNE selects charities supporting women and children and spends the entire year hosting a variety of events to fund these charities.

Finding Our Voices, which is based in Camden, was picked as the 2022 fund-recipient along with WomenAde and Grahamtastic out of New Hampshire and Youth Journalism International out of Auburn.

Patrisha McLean, founder and president of Finding Our Voices, accepted the check in the ballroom of the York Harbor Inn with Mary Lou Smith, a survivor on the posters that have papered more than 60 towns across Maine. With Maine Governor Janet T. Mills joining this poster campaign, the posters now feature the faces and voices of 40 named Maine survivors aged 18 to Mary Lou’s 82.
