Derek Michael Randall, obituary
ROCKLAND — Derek Michael Randall, aged 42, of Rockland, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2025. Born on July 15, 1983, Derek dedicated his final years to working at Hannaford, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. A graduate of Rockland District High School in 2002, Derek was a passionate enthusiast of music and films, boasting an impressive movie collection. He cherished attending live concerts with his uncle, Darren Joy as well.
Derek is survived by his daughter, Sara Emily Randall, whom he adored deeply despite the distance that separated them. Throughout the years, he provided her with unwavering support, leaving a lasting legacy of love and dedication. His devoted mother, Tammy Randall, of Rockland, Maine, is heartbroken over the loss of her only son. In addition, he is survived by his father, Matthew Randall, and step-mother, Linda Randall, of Augusta, Maine.
Derek's sister, Ashlee Francis, and her husband, Cody Francis, from Washington, Maine, mourn the loss of a cherished brother and brother-in-law. Derek took immense pride in being an uncle to his nephews, Trystan and Ashton Francis, as well as his niece, London Francis, who brought joy to his life. Additionally, he is survived by his half-brother, Zachary Randall of Augusta, Maine, and three stepsisters: Amy St. Peter of Sidney, Maine, Laura Atter of Monmouth, Maine, and Ashley McGuire of Augusta, Maine, along with their families. Though their interactions were infrequent, they played a significant role during his formative years.
His grandmother Mary-Elisabeth Randall of Winthrop, Maine, also survives him. Derek was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard J. Randall of Winthrop, Maine, his grandmother, Donna J. Joy of Owls Head, Maine, and his grandfather, Hubert C. Joy of Rockland, Maine. Additionally, several aunts and uncles will greatly miss him too.
Though Derek was often reserved and not always easy to get to know, those who were close to him experienced his genuine love and loyalty. He had a unique way of expressing his affection, and those who knew him well understood the depth of his caring nature.
Derek will be remembered for his quiet strength and the unwavering support he provided. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched.
