Knox County court news: Attempted strangulation of a woman, eluding an officer, criminal speeding
ROCKLAND – The following comprises recent court activity in Knox County and two men remain in custody at the Knox County Jail since they were arrested. One man is accused of strangling a woman and the other is being held on a probation hold on several charges, including eluding an officer at a high rate of speed.
Judge sets bail at $20,000 for Warren man accused of strangling woman
A Warren man remains in jail as Aug. 27 on $20,000 on cash bail after he was arrested for allegedly strangling a woman.
Brandon Gile, 43, was arrested Aug. 20 by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He has been charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, illegal possession of a firearm, and violating a condition of release.
He made his initial appearance in Knox County Court Aug. 22.
According to the affidavit filed in court by police in court, deputies were contacted my MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital in Damariscotta about a woman who was being treated at the hospital. The woman appeared to have been strangled and had marks on her neck and broken blood vessels in her eyes.
The woman became unconscious during the alleged strangling, according to the court document.
She told police that Gile suffered from post traumatic stress disorder from serving in the Middle East.
Gile is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 16.
Rockland Police arrest man days after he eluded police driving at a high rate of speed
Dylan McClure, 27, listed as a transient, was wanted by police after he eluded officers when they attempted to stop him for driving with a revoked license, Rockland Police said in a news release.
While fleeing during the prior stop, McClure was driving over twice the posted speed limit, failed to stop at a red light, and almost caused multiple accidents.
Officers did not pursue McClure due to knowing his identity at the time of the attempted stop and the extreme safety risks to other drivers posed by his operation, police said
McClure was charged with aggravated operating after habitual offender revocation, driving to endanger, refusing to stop for a law enforcement officer and criminal speeding 30 miles plus over the speed limit.
When police arrested McClure after they located crack cocaine.
McClure, who was out on probation for a prior felony drug charge, has been charged with a new felony of unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs (crack cocaine) and is being held without bail at the Knox County Jail on a probation hold.
He is scheduled to appear in court again Oct. 2.
