Public invited to Owls Head Labor Day town hall with gubernatorial candidate Troy Jackson, Aug. 30
Throughout his 20 years as a state legislator, Troy Jackson consistently stood up for working Mainers and our most disadvantaged. As State Senate President he sponsored numerous bills to help health care workers and patients, address soaring prescription drug prices and keep facilities open. He was instrumental in bringing the Lobster Union, building trades and environmental advocates together to keep commercial wind energy development out of Maine’s lobster fishing grounds to the benefit of our fishery and economy.
Troy worked to reduce Maine’s dependence on fossil fuels while ensuring strong labor practices as we shift to renewable energy. He supported funding for rebuilding coastal infrastructure damaged by extreme weather events.
He led efforts making childcare more affordable for working and low-income families and gaining better pay for educators.
He established free school lunches for all children. He championed labor organizing by loggers and nurses, sponsored legislation protecting veterans' rights and fought to keep their health services intact.
Notably, Troy has promised that on Day One if elected governor, he will grant our Wabanaki Nations their sovereignty.
This is an opportunity to hear Troy’s vision for Maine and to ask any questions you have, Saturday, Aug. 30, 5 p.m., at the Ash Point Community School, 54 Ash Point Drive, Owls Head, ME 04854. Ample parking, wheelchair accessible. Arrive early.
Hosted by grassroots volunteers of Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties. All party affiliations encouraged to attend.
