TENANTS HARBOR — Daniel James Boudreau, 84, passed away surrounded by his family on July 27, 2026, at home in Tenants Harbor, Maine.

Daniel was born in 1942 to Edmund and Mary Anna (Lacroix) Boudreau in Bridgeport, Connecticut and was of French-Canadian descent. He was a brother to Robert. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine (Carroll), and four daughters, Christine Washburn (Bob), Ave Smith, Nancy Schaaff (Robert), and Laura Lecci (John). Daniel and Catherine have thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son, Danny, and a granddaughter.

Dan attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Fairfield County, Connecticut in the inaugural class as Valedictorian. Following graduation he attended Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts and received a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature. Later he pursued a Masters of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Linguistics and History of Romance Languages.

After graduation, Dan taught French Language at Bunnell High School in Stratford, Connecticut, and began working at St. Joseph’s Manor in Trumbull, Connecticut, during the summer breaks. In 1971, he took a full-time job in the Staff Development Department and later fulfilled the requirements to receive his Nursing Home Administrators License in 1980. Dan had the distinction of working under all five administrators of St. Joseph’s Manor and has held many positions. He was well known as a man of many hats. In 2000 Dan was chosen by his peers to receive the Mother Angeline Teresa, O. Carm Award for Distinction of Service at the 40th Anniversary Celebration of St. Joseph’s Manor, operated by the Carmelite Sisters for The Aged and Infirm, and the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Upon retirement, Daniel and Catherine moved to Tenants Harbor, Maine on the Midcoast. He was able to continue his lifelong passion for learning, taking online college classes and visiting museums and historical sites. His family was always treated to history lessons while driving around town (whether they wanted it or not). He managed to fit in his woodworking projects and gardening pursuits in between samplings of local seafood and craft beer.

Above all, Dan was most well known as a man of exceptional character; a gentle man among gentlemen. He always treated everyone he met with kindness, dignity and respect. He especially loved to hear about the latest news in the lives of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He loved well, and was well loved.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11 a.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland.
