Belfast Maskers announces the cast of its upcoming production of “Pippin,” with book by Roger O. Hirson and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Performances will run July 30 - August 9, at the Basil Burwell Community Theater.

Set within a traveling troupe of performers, “Pippin” follows a young prince in search of purpose, meaning, and fulfillment. As the Leading Player and her ensemble guide him through a series of increasingly elaborate theatrical experiences, Pippin is drawn into a world that blurs performance and reality, spectacle and sincerity.

The production features Tom Lott as Pippin and Abby Boucher as the Leading Player. Linnea Harrold appears as Catherine, Bob Smith as Charlemagne, Maggie Machaiek as Fastrada, Cassy Palmer as Berthe, Grayson Koelbl as Lewis, and Reid Woodbury as Theo. The cast is rounded out by Sam Benham, Etta Hughes, Malaya Moores, Anya Wells-Ketcham, Olivia West, Beth Whitman, and Sarah Wilcox-Hughes.

This production will incorporate dance, stage illusions, and a variety of Vaudevillian and circus-inspired feats that transform the stage into a dynamic, ever-shifting performance space.

"Blending movement, music, and theatrical spectacle, the ensemble will function as both storytellers and performers, creating a heightened environment where magic and reality intertwine," said Belfast Maskers, in a news release.

At its core, “Pippin” asks what it means to live an extraordinary life, and whether fulfillment is found in grand, dazzling moments or in the quieter, more human ones in between.

Performances will take place at the Basil Burwell Community Theater, located at 17 Court Street in Belfast. Showtimes are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $20-$24, with discounted Thursday performances available for $15.
