'Conserving the Magalloway' topic of Georges River Trout Unlimited meeting

Tuesday, March 10, 2026 - 07:00 pmCAMDEN — Georges River Trout Unlimited (GRTU) welcomes Jake Metzler for a presentation on the Magalloway Project, a collaborative effort to conserve 78,000 acres in Western Maine. Metzler will discuss the Magalloway conservation project, including details about what makes the project unique, why the area is important, the collaborative partnership that has developed to complete the work, and how people can support the effort.
The GRTU meeting on March 10 will be held upstairs at Sea Dog Brewing Co., 1 Main Street, Camden. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with “Trout Talk,” an informal gathering for those who wish to visit before the presentation. The formal meeting and featured presentation begin at 7 p.m.
Metzler is Vice President of Stewardship and Conservation for the Forest Society of Maine (FSM). He joined FSM in the fall of 2004 following the completion of BS and MS degrees in forestry. He has been involved with stewarding and developing forest conservation projects across the state, from Van Buren to Ellsworth, Coburn Gore to Cooper, working with a wide variety of landowners, stakeholders, and communities. He lives in Lincolnville, with his wife and two daughters.
GRTU meetings are free and open to the public.
