Since 2020, the group has held an annual exhibit of their work at a variety of locations. This year, the painters will be exhibiting at the Cushing Historical Society’s "Arts in the Barn" with a collection of their plein air work. The artists work in a variety of mediums and styles, "never failing to create their own unique interpretation on each location," said Arts In The Barn, in a news release.
"The magnificent coast of Midcoast Maine has always been an exciting location for plein air artists," said Arts In The Barn. "This group of resident artists started painting together during Covid, when painting outdoors as a group was artistically satisfying as well as a great way to see others safely."
The group has grown and continued to work together, finding locations to paint on a weekly basis in spring, summer and fall and weather permitting, in winter months.
The exhibit will open on Friday, Sept. 11, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m.; refreshments served. The exhibit continues Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The Arts In The Barn program is under the 501c3 statute for the Cushing Historical Society, and these programs benefit the Historical Society's aims. We are a community supportive organization and have talks and presentations about the history, cultural heritage and persons of interest in our midcoast area. Contact: cushingaitb@gmail.com.
