Clean sweep. Vote them all out
A story about voting.
First, a story about my father, born in 1926. This relevant as it is about party politics. WW2 was starting to wind down after he reached 17, and being worried about missing out, he was able to lie about his age and get in the Army at the tail end. A bit a shooting from foxholes he said, but mostly he was assigned to guard duty over POWs only a few years younger than him — conscripted Hitler Youth, they were 13, 14, 15.
He also told us about the occupation once the war in Europe ended. The little German he first learned was for his work: Halten, or Schnell— Stop! or Hurry Up! The first full sentence he learned was “Ich war kein Nazi!!”—-I was not a Nazi!
He heard that everywhere: POWs, mothers, bakers, tram conductors. Everyone was very eager to tell young Americans in uniform that: “Ich war kein Nazi!!” My father wondered, a whole big country of Germans, and no one was a Nazi, then who the heck were we fighting? (Thanks Dad, one of the original “anti-fa!”)
Why am I voting democrat? Not because I am a democrat. Not because I am a liberal. But because every Republican on my ballot, and on your ballot, is a Trump enabler. Trump can’t exist without these folks. They make Trump who he is. They have to go. All of them. Clean sweep. Vote them all out.
