Camden Hills Mountain Bike Team ends season with a strong finish at Northern New England competition
The Camden Hills Regional High School Mountain Bike Team capped off a strong season with an impressive second-place finish in the Eastern Division of the Northern New England Mountain Bike Series.
Competing against 10 teams from Maine and New Hampshire, including Gould Academy, Berlin/Gorham, Kents Hill School, Fryeburg Academy, Kennett High School, Southern Maine MTB Syndicate, Chop Point School, Portsmouth, Exeter, and Carrabassett Valley Academy, the Windjammers secured the division’s runner-up spot.
On October 26, the team traveled to Farmington, for the New England Championships, where they placed 14th among 25 regional teams.
Team captains this season were Ward Morrison and Oliver Lee. Coaches were Chris Rogers and Rich Worner.
Standout individual performances in a league of nearly 400 riders included:
- Cora Gates, who finished fifth overall among 24 girls and earned the top ranking for 11th-grade girls.
- Oliver Lee, who was ranked third among 12th-grade boys.
- Nick Rogers, who was ranked fourth among 11th-grade boys.
Other standout results from the season:
- Cora Gates won five of the eight races she participated in
- Oliver Lee won the CHRHS’s home meet on September 24th, and Nick Rogers placed second
- Nick Rogers placed second at the Chop Point meet on September 27th, and Oliver Lee placed third
- CHRHS won the home meet
- CHRHS won the Chop Point meet
