Camden Hills Girls Soccer team sail past Messalonskee to a mercy ending
The Camden Hills Regional High School Windjammer girls soccer team soared through to a victory of 8-0 against Messalonskee in a game that ended early due to the mercy rule. The quarterfinal kicked off at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, with the Jammers representing with their original red jerseys.
On one play, an array of shots from many Jammer players flew through the air, and Senior and Captain Izzy Debrosky, No. 12, nailed the rocket into the back of the net, giving the Jammers the lead.
It’s putting it lightly saying that the goals didn’t stop coming after that one. The Jammers went on to score seven more goals before the whistle blew.
The Sophomore Molly Williams, No. 10, had a tremendous game, having an outstanding five goals for the home team, and giving the team that Jammer pride going into the playoffs.
Sophomore Eve Domareki, No. 13, did not stop persevering until her shot landed perfectly in the net as well, a great example of a key player in the Jammer’s attack.
To send the Windjammers home early, Senior Violet Ward, No. 15, had a great attempt that didn’t quite land, but good thing Freshman Margaret Gerrigan, No. 25, was there to fire it right in with finesse.
The Jammer girls made everyone proud with their home game performance, and will fight hard to do so again at their semi-final game to be played against Mt. Ararat in Damariscotta and on the Windjammers home turf field, Lincoln Academy, this Saturday 10 a.m. Be there to support your girls varsity soccer team, and sport that Jammer pride.
