On June 22, Belfast Police Officers Jonathan Guba and Officer Mike Blakely responded to a medical aid call on Whittier Road in Belfast.

The 911 caller reported a 15-year-old female at the residence was unconscious and barely breathing. Upon arrival, Belfast officers checked for a pulse and determined CPR would be needed. Officers Guba and Blakely then immediately began CPR and got the teenager breathing again.

“Their quick actions, training and experience ultimately saved the life of a 15-year girl,” said Belfast Police Chief Robert Cormier, in a news release. “The officers remained calm, professional, and demonstrated the finest Belfast Police Department has to offer.

“This week, we recognize Officers Jonathan Guba and Officer Mike Blakely, who received the Department Life Saving Award. Congratulations to Officers Guba and Blakely for your dedicated service to the Belfast community.”
