Hundreds of Tulips Create a Carpet of Color at the Camden Traffic Island Camden Garden Club Plants a Spectacular Array of Coral Tulips, Don't Miss the Display of Color in the center of Camden In All Their Glory Sunset Shades Frame the Camden Public Library

Hundreds of tulips are planted each autumn by Camden Garden Club in anticipation of the glory of spring. Though this sudden burst of color may look like magic, there are months of planning and a good deal of fundraising involved in creating this tapestry on Camden's Main and Mountain Streets. Many hands participate both in selecting and planting the tulips and raising the funds for the enterprise. This is only one of the 13 town gardens supported and maintained by the Club.

The Club's principal fundraiser is the Garden Tour, which will take place on July 16, from 10 to 4. This year, there will be six ingenious gardens open to the public. Visitors come from all over Maine and New England. The tickets are $40 for a day of inspiration for all. Whether you are a new or veteran gardener, there is something for everyone. Two additional demonstrations will take place:

Linda Redmond of Brae Maple Farm will show us how to build twiggy arches, gates, and arbors, demonstrating "Twigs & Things” using nature’s gifts to enhance your garden designs.

Gabrielle Jansen of Fire Bird Farm will create beautiful works of art from dried flowers during her demonstration, “Everlasting Flower Wallhanging.”

Their creations will be raffled on the day.

Cassie Sano

An oil and watercolor plein air painter from Augusta, Maine, Cassie is inspired by the natural beauty of coastal and inland landscapes. She is drawn to scenes with an abundance of color (especially gardens) and enjoys creating wide-lens compositions that tell a complete story of a location.

Her en plein air painting will be raffled to ticket holders on the Tour Day.

Tickets can be purchased @camdengardenclub.org.

Many thanks to our Lamppost sponsors for their generous contribution.
