ROCKPORT — The Midcoast Recreation Center will host its inaugural Fire to Ice tournament fundraiser, a combination chili cook-off and 3v3 hockey tournament Saturday, Oct. 23. 

Individuals can register to compete, in either aspect of the event, by visiting the Fire to Ice Tournament page at midcoastrec.org/chili.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards MRC’s youth hockey programs.

The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All rules and regulations for the chili cook-off can be found in the Chili Registration Form on the Fire to Ice Tournament page.

Registration is free, but a minimum of two quarts of chili is required to enter. Please note, contestants must be 18 years or older to participate, and chili must be brought to MRC in a crockpot labelled with their name and phone number. Be sure to bring your very best chili as a $150 prize will be awarded to the judges choice chili, and a $50 prize for the people’s choice chili.

The 3v3 hockey tournament will be by individual registration, with Arena Director Jesse Simko forming the actual teams based off the registrants.

Registration is by donation, though MRC respectfully requests a minimum $50 donation to play. Participants can register and print off the fundraising form through midcoastrec.org/chili. Donations are not due until the day of the tournament.

Admission is $10 per person, and includes a sample of each chili in the competition!
