Wednesday Waldo Walk heads to Hatchet Mountain Preserve
Coastal Mountains Land Trust will host a Wednesday Waldo Walk on Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join Coastal Mountains volunteer Bindy Pendleton as she guides hikers up Hatchet Mountain in Hope.
Pendleton will be sharing the incredible conservation story of this mountain, allowing participants to stop and admire the views of Hobbs Pond and catch their breath. The trail is 1.2 miles up and down with 540 feet of elevation gain. This hike follows an abandoned road which is now a steep trail with multiple switchbacks.
Directions: From Camden, take Route 105 out of Camden to Hope Center. At Hope Center, take a left onto Hatchet Mountain Road (Route 235) and drive just over 0.5 miles to the parking area on the right.
Limited parking: Parking at Hatchet is minimal, so Pendleton will be there to direct vehicles to a nearby parking location, if needed.
Those interested in carpooling from Belfast can meet Pendleton in the Reny’s parking lot by 9:30 a.m. Please contact Bindy at 207-323-0817 before October 8.
