Film Club for Adults at Rockland library to discuss 1941 comedy
Film Club at the Rockland Public Library will meet on Monday, October 20, at 6 p.m., in the Library's Board Room.
This month’s discussion is centered on the 1941 comedy Sullivan's Travels. A successful Hollywood director disguises himself as a bum and sets off to see America from the bottom up. In the midst of the brutality and despair, he makes a valuable discovery — that what the downtrodden need most is laughter.
Film Club is "like a book club but with movies," said the Library.
Watch the selected film on your own and then join the group for a lively discussion each month. Plots, themes, characters, soundtracks, symbolism, cinematography, and more are all discussion options. From casual viewers to cinephiles, all levels of interest in film are welcome.
