WARREN — At approximately 3:15 p.m., on Saturday, June 11, 2022, Knox Regional Communication Center received 911 calls reporting an incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at a residence on Atlantic Highway, in Warren.

First responders arrived at the residence and found Harvey Staples, 69, of Warren, deceased. The incident is still being investigated but preliminary information is that the death is accidental, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, in a news release.

“Mr. Staples sustained fatal injuries while conducting yard work on his property,” said Chief Deputy Pat Polky, in the release.

The appropriate state agencies were notified.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Waldoboro EMS, Waldoboro PD and Halls Funeral Home.

At the time of this call, Warren Ambulance was transporting a different patient to a local hospital. Waldoboro EMS was called as mutual aid. After Waldoboro EMS had been there for a while, a third medical call came in for a Warren location. That third call also required a response by a KCSO deputy, and the deputies had at least one other unrelated call elsewhere.
