Waldo County Sheriff’s Office investigates two separate crashes with fatalities

    FRANKFORT and PALERMO — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two crashes that killed two people in separate incidents.

    On June 11, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motorcycle crash that had occurred on Main Road North in Frankfort.

    Deputy Kyle Masse and Lucas Potts responded to the scene.

    Once on scene Deputy Masse was able to determine that a motorcycle traveling southbound had left the roadway and the operator, Mitchell Philbrook, 23, of Searsport, had been ejected from the motorcycle, according to a news release from the S.O.

    Winterport Ambulance personnel advised Deputy Masse that the operator had died from injuries he sustained as a result of the crash.

    Philbrook was the sole rider on the motorcycle at the time of the crash. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. Speed is considered a primary factor in the crash.

    One June 12, at approximate 1:33 p.m., the S.O. was notified of a vehicle crash on the Plummer Road in Palermo.

    Deputy Lucas Potts and Cpl. Jeff Rice responded to the scene.

    Once on scene Deputies determined that Louis Miller, 57, of Palermo had been traveling northbound on the Plummer Road in a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero when he failed to negotiate a right-hand turn, the release said.

    The vehicle left the road, struck a tree and rolled onto its roof.

    Miller was ejected from the vehicle and died from injuries sustained during the crash. Miller was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

    The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
