UMaine Extension hosts annual open house at Morning Dew Farm
The Knox-Lincoln Counties Extension Association will hold its annual meeting and open house, Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4-6 p.m., at Morning Dew Farm, 245 US Route 1, in Damariscotta. Rain date will be Monday, Oct. 27.
Attendees will meet staff and board members from University of Maine Cooperative Extension and learn about the programs Extension provides, including the Maine Families program for new parents, 4-H youth development, home horticulture, sustainable agriculture and climate resilience.
Participants can tour Morning Dew Farm, a 6-acre MOFGA-certified organic vegetable farm owned and operated by husband and wife team Brendan McQuillen and Brady Hatch. The farm specializes in salad greens, growing over 300 pounds per week in the summer season, plus unique specialty produce for home and professional cooks alike.
Sustainable Agriculture Educator Brett Johnson will share details about an outreach program for local farms taking shape in the near future. There will be a short business meeting and a question-and-answer session for the public.
