AUBURN — Tracy Lynne Batty, 65, died peacefully at her home at Lubear Way Home on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, surrounded by the people who loved and cared for her.

Born in Rockland, July 5, 1961, Tracy was the daughter of Seth and Ruth Elwell Batty. She grew up in Spruce Head with her three siblings, attended the Henderson School, and later joined the arts program at Coastal Opportunities. Later in her life, Tracy attended two different Community Support Programs through Creative Works.

Tracy was equally sweet and spicy, and she had a way of keeping everyone on their toes. Her caregivers were often known to say that Tracy could light up a room and had a warmth, a smile, and a personality that could brighten the day of everyone around her. But if Tracy was mad, you knew it! Even her favorite caregivers could be given a run for their money if they didn’t move quite as quickly as she thought they should. Tracy greatly enjoyed the companionship of her housemates and caregivers at the Lubear Way home. She loved crafting with them and especially enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays together. In July, her housemates and caregivers threw her a wonderful 65th birthday party, which Tracy thoroughly enjoyed.

Tracy grew up going on family camping trips and traveling to archery tournaments to watch her parents compete. As she got older, she looked forward to spending a week each summer at Camp Mechuwana and participating in the Special Olympics Summer Games. She was especially proud of her accomplishments and would proudly show off her medals for weeks after each event.

Church was an important part of Tracy’s life, and she enjoyed being part of her church communities. As a child, she attended Spruce Head Community Church with her family. Later, she attended Harmony Bible Church until she moved away from the Midcoast area.

Tracy looked forward to attending her Community Support programs at both Coastal Opportunities and Creative Works. If it was a weekend, holiday, or there was a weather closure, she was known to ask when she would get to go back. At these programs, she especially enjoyed crafting, particularly beading, and playing Bingo. When she was at home, Tracy loved watching old television shows, including I Dream of Jeannie, Leave It to Beaver, and Mama’s Family. She was also known for taking someone’s wrist and announcing, “BP over 90,” a habit she picked up after years of watching Emergency.

Tracy had many beloved pets throughout the years and loved sharing stories about them with anyone who would listen. She had a strong personality, and a way of making herself known. She was sweet, spirited, sometimes a little sassy, and always unmistakably Tracy.

Tracy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, caregivers, housemates, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She leaves behind countless memories, many of them sure to bring a smile, and a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. Her presence made a difference, and her memory will remain a treasured part of the lives she touched.

Predeceased by her parents; two siblings, Timothy Batty, Pamela Batty; and a brother-in-law, William Curtis; Tracy is survived by her sisters Susan Parker and her husband Kent of Union, Laura Curtis of South Thomaston; her nieces and nephews, Cathy Curtis and her partner Arvin Araja, Christpher Curtis and his wife Jennifer, Karen Timmermeyer and her husband Mike, Andrew Parker and his fiancée Jocelyn Perry-Slocum, Seth Batty and his wife Hannah; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Cassandra Stewart and her husband Trent, Thomas Curtis and his wife Kathryn, Samuel Curtis and his fiancée Christie, Owen Curtis, David Benjamin Curtis, Joseph Curtis, Abby Crosby and her significant other Bill Jones, Carter Slocum, Alena Slocum, Jonah Slocum, Stella Slocum, and Connor Batty; and many friends and caregivers who were like family.

A graveside celebration of her life will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Ocean View Cemetery, South Thomaston.
