Hannah Howland will lead an outdoor presentation on Water Gardens at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, September 29 at 12:00 pm.

Bring a little more life and beauty to your garden with water! This talk will explore the fascinating world of water gardens, with a special focus on aquatic and water-loving plants. Learn about different types of water plants, from floating and submerged species to marginal plants that thrive along the edges of ponds and streams. Plant selection, growing conditions, placement and maintenance will be discussed.

Howland is a third-generation horticulturist. She inherited her passion for plants from her father and grandfather while growing up in their family-owned garden center in western Massachusetts. She has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Horticulture from the University of Maine, and loves putting her skills to work guiding clients to find the right plants for their projects. She is especially passionate about finding new and modern ways to incorporate our Maine natives into designed landscapes.

This in-person talk is part of the Summer Talk Series co-sponsored by Reny’s – A Maine Adventure and Camden Riverhouse Hotel. Attendance is free for members; $10 for non-members.
