Timothy Hall, obituary
ROCKLAND — Timothy Albert Hall, 77, of Rockland, Maine, passed away on November 21, 2025, following a period of declining health.
Born on March 28, 1948, in Rockland, Tim was the third of five children of George Carroll and Marion Shuman Hall. His childhood was joyful and lively, spent in a close-knit neighborhood where games of baseball and spontaneous adventures stretched across backyards and streets. During his adolescent and teenage years, he discovered some of his greatest gifts and lifelong passions—especially sports. A talented multi-sport athlete, he enjoyed an outstanding high school career at Rockland District High School, where he left an indelible mark, most notably on the basketball court.
After high school, Tim attended Thomas College briefly before transferring to Husson College, where he earned his associate degree in business and continued to excel in basketball at a higher level. After completing his education, he joined his father’s earthwork and excavation company, George C. Hall & Sons. Following his father’s passing in 1993, Tim assumed the role of president, a position he held with pride until his retirement and the transition of the business in 2025.
Tim was hard-working and dedicated. In his years at George C. Hall & Sons, he was known for his integrity, generosity, and kindness. His warm personality allowed him to develop deep and valued connections with his employees, business contacts, and the community at large; relationships that often grew into lifelong friendships. Throughout the years, likely bolstered by the strong sense of community instilled in him by his father, he donated time and financial resources to organizations that he believed in, such as youth sports and the local animal shelter, amongst others. Although he rarely took vacations from work, his adult life was punctuated by some memorable vacations to places that he truly loved, such as Aruba. He found joy in participating in a semi-pro basketball league, softball, and bowling. A lifelong car enthusiast, he owned several memorable vehicles, including a Dodge Charger, a 1966 Corvette Stingray, and his Nissan Z-Car convertible proudly bearing the license plate “TimZ.”
Family was the heart of Tim’s world. He adored his two daughters, Denise and Tori, and took immense pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchild. Over the years, he also shared his life with several cherished pets, including his adopted feral cats, Mitty and Gabby, and his loyal golden retriever, Milli. Tim loved good meals at his favorite local restaurants, spending time with friends, collecting and gifting unique treasures, attending professional sporting events, and faithfully cheering for his beloved New England teams—a passion he passed on to the next generations.
Tim fulfilled so many roles throughout his life—son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, employer, and friend. Even in recent months, as his health declined, he showed remarkable strength and determination, drawing motivation from his love for his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Denise Hall Morris and her husband Robert of Tenants Harbor, Tori Hall Lowe and her husband Elliot of Owls Head; 4 siblings, Susan Barbour and her husband Dr. William of Rockland, Judith Simmons and her husband Dennis of Union, James Hall and his wife Joan of Owls Head, Carrie Hall-Indorf and her husband Paul of South Portland; 5 grandchildren, Jenna Carlson of Cushing, Owen Carlson of Hope, Noah Carlson of Tenants Harbor, Otis Lowe of Owls Head, Maxwell Lowe of Owls Head; 1 great grandchild, Alden Wakem of Cushing; nieces and nephews, Beth Barbour of Westbrook, Jake Barbour of Rockland, Jamie Hall of Owls Head, Samuel Hall of Owls Head, Lauren Hall of Owls Head, Evan Indorf of Bethel, Connecticut, Olivia Indorf of Lebanon, New Hampshire, Jessica Hosford of Bucksport and Jason Simmons of Durham; numerous additional great-nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Tim also shared especially close and enduring friendships with Alicia Blake of Warren, Claire Roberts of Friendship, and David Huntley of Rockland, whose friendship, loyalty, and support were treasured parts of his life.
Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, a cause that held a special place in Tim’s heart.
