Rosalie Gleason, obituary
NORTH APPLETON — Rosalie Gleason, 95, died peacefully in the loving care of her family, Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Born in Camden, January 9, 1930, she was the daughter of Elwyn S. and Mary Meservey Mank.
Growing up in North Appleton, Rosalie enjoyed what would now be considered an idyllic Maine life. She attended Appleton schools and was Valedictorian of her Appleton High School graduating class. September 11, 1949, she married the love of her life, William T. Gleason, in Union.
She devoted her life as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and was recognized as the matriarch of not only her family, but even the extended family.
Rosalie worked four years at Tibbets Industries in Camden before returning to what she considered her vocation of wife, mother and homemaker. In that capacity she assisted her husband as bookkeeper at Thurston Brothers Inc. Casket Factory in Union and Thurston Brothers Transportation.
She was an avid reader and loved visiting or visits from her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Other than her parents and three siblings, Rosalie was predeceased by her husband, William, in 2012, and her grandson Jon-David T. Gleason in 2020.
She is survived by her son Craig T. Gleason and his wife Gail of Union; a brother, Mervyn Mank and his wife Gail of North Appleton; three grandchildren, Jon-David's wife Teresa Gleason and her husband Aaron Cox, Nicole Glidden and her husband Shawn, Carrie Bojorquez Garcia and her husband Gerardo; three great-grandchildren, Ava Gleason, Kelsey Glidden, Juan Deigo Bojorquez; three step-grandchildren, Harmonie Hagerman, Cmd., Autumn Riddell, USN and her husband Michael, Forrest Hagerman and his wife Lillian; step-great grandchildren, Kyle Connor and Sarah Williams, Maize Hagerman and Delia Trott, Ezekiel and Eliza Riddell, Ocean and Imogen Hagerman; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. ,at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. Rockland. Reverend Mark Adolphsen will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Appleton.
