Rockland Police arrest man for drug trafficking
ROCKLAND – A Bangor man was arrested by Rockland Police following a search warrant in Rockland's south end after a monthlong investigation into drug trafficking, according to a news release by the department Jan. 24.
Jason "JD" Viorla, 40, was charged with felony aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs. The charge is aggravated, due in part, to a prior conviction for trafficking, Rockland Police said. Viorla also has suspected ties to North Carolina and New York.
While conducting the search warrant, police recovered approximately 40 grams of crack cocaine.
Police said that additional arrests related to the investigation are expected.
Rockland Police often receive information and complaints from citizens regarding locations around the city that are suspected to be involved in drug trafficking or similar quality of life issues. Although this information and these types of investigations are not uncommon, we want to reaffirm our commitment to using a multifaceted and proactive approach to address these types of issues as they arise, the department stated in the news release.
