Oct. 12 remembrance gathering for Judy and John Sherman
Join friends and neighbors Sunday, October 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Camden Yacht Club to honor two of long-time friends, Judith Larkin Sherman and John Lincoln Sherman.
Judy, 89, passed away March 23, 2025, and John, 97, passed away September 14, 2025.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Worcester, Massachusetts, respectively, Judy and John thrived in a 60-year marriage, living the last 40 years in the Rockport/Camden communities. They were known to many for their steadfast attendance and participation in the activities of the Camden Garden, Rotary and Yacht clubs.
In their younger years, Judy and John were avid adventurers. The mountains and the sea were their second homes.
Judy was a member of the Adirondack 46ers, having climbed the 46 major peaks of New York’s Adirondack Mountains. John had climbed 30 of them.
They kayaked and canoed the waterways of New York State. They did technical rock climbing in the Adirondacks. They sailed the entire Maine coast all the way to Canada on their 35-foot sailboat Snowflake and skied regularly on the Sugarloaf and Ragged Mountain slopes. They were avid supporters of the Ragged Mountain Recreation Area Foundation.
John was a skilled woodworker with a shop alongside their home on Spring Mountain Drive.
John and Judy had no children. Judy was an only child. John had an older brother, Bob, who preceded him in death. Their nearest remaining living relatives are the three surviving children of Bob: Nephew Mark Sherman and nieces Janet Sherman and Sandy Sherman.
Join the community to honor Judy and John with a few stories of remembrance, beverages and light hors d’oeuvres at Camden Yacht Club, Sunday, October 12, 2 to 4 p.m.
