Oceanside claims District 2 baseball crown
ROCKLAND — Despite winning its first two contests in bracket play, Lincoln County dropped two straight to Oceanside in the championship series, including a 10-3 decision July 15. With the two straight victories at Rockland’s Gordon Field, Oceanside claimed the 9- and 10-year-old District 2 Baseball Championship and advances to the state tournament in Auburn, which begins Saturday, July 19.
Lincoln County scored one run in the second inning and two in the fourth, while Oceanside plated two in each of the first and second innings and three in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
Teams members for Oceanside include Noah Ames, Alex Bartlett, Connor Calderwood, Elijah Esancy, Hayden Jacques, Jason Leclerc, Elliott Lucier, Brady Marchessault, Jason Merrifield, Duncan Oakes, Liam O'Neal, Brady Wadsworth and Andrew Peaco. The team is managed by Joe Nelsen.

At the plate for Oceanside were Wadsworth (two singles, two runs), Bartlett (two singles, two runs), Calderwood (double, two runs), O’Neal (double, two runs), Leclerc (single), Peaco (run), Ames (two singles) and Marchesseault (run).
Batting for Lincoln County were Lord (single), Wotton (double, run), Wall (run), Sawyer (single, run) and Moss (single). (First names were not available.)
Toeing the rubber for Oceanside were Lucier (3.2 innings, one hit, one run, eight strikeouts, one walk) and O'Neal (2.1 innings, two runs, four hits, two strikeouts, one walk).
