Oceanside baseball tops Lincoln Academy

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity baseball squad collected its second consecutive victory Monday, May 17 during a home contest against Lincoln Academy. 

The host Mariners topped the visitors 11-8 to improves its record to 4-7 on the season. Lincoln Academy, meanwhile, dropped to 1-7. 

Oceanside tallied one run in the second inning before an explosive eight-run third inning and a two-run fourth inning. The Mariners recorded 12 hits, committed three errors and stranded 10 runners. 

Lincoln Academy plated a run in the second, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth during its attempt at a comeback. The guests recorded eight hits, committed one error and abandoned seven runners on base. 

Repeat hitters for Oceanside included Finnegan Lynch (single, triple, three RBI), Nathan Coombs (two singles, home run, two RBI) and Alec Sirois (single, double, RBI). Alex Bartlett contributed a double. 

Levi Farrin (two singles, RBI) was the lone repeat hitter for Lincoln Academy while Nate True tallied a double and Nick Prior notched a two-run home run. 

Working the pitcher’s mound for Oceanside were Bryson Mattox (four innings, three runs, one earned run, two hits, strikeout, five walks), Will Eaton (one inning) and Austin Chilles (two innings, five strikeouts). 

Myles Wotton and Griffin Bond worked the mound for Lincoln Academy. 

The Mariners will return to action Wednesday, May 19 on the road against Mount View at 4 p.m.
