Oceanside baseball slips past Nokomis

NEWPORT — The Oceanside varsity baseball team hit the road Wednesday, May 15 for a contest against Nokomis. 

By game’s end, the visiting Mariners collected a 6-4 victory over the hosts. 

Oceanside improved its record to 2-9 with the win. 

Oceanside plated four runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth. 

Nokomis tallied one run in each the second and fifth innings and two in the seventh. 

Oceanside recorded 13 hits and committed four errors. 

Nokomis tallied four hits and recorded six errors. 

Repeat hitters for Oceanside included Cole Stevens (three singles, three RBIs, run), Uriah Thongsphaphone (two singles, two runs, three stolen bases), Caleb Powell (two singles) and Austin Pagano (two singles). 

Andrew Hopkins (two singles, run, RBI) was the lone repeat hitter for Nokomis. 

Up next for Oceanside will be a home contest against Winslow on Friday, May 17 at 4 p.m.
