Oceanside baseball shuts out Mount View

THORNDIKE — The Oceanside varsity baseball team earned its third consecutive victory Wednesday, May 19 on the road against Mount View in Thorndike. 

The Mariners (5-7 record) shutout the host Mustangs (5-6 record) by a score of 7-0. 

Oceanside plated two runs in the first inning, one run each in the second and third inning, as well as three runs in the fourth inning. 

The Mariners recorded 14 hits, committed no errors and abandoned eight runners on base. The Mustangs, meanwhile, recorded three hits, committed two errors and stranded three on base. 

Repeat hitters for Oceanside were Finnegan Lynch (three singles), Alex Bartlett (two singles, double, two RBI), Nathan Coombs (single, double, triple, two RBI) and Alec Sirois (two singles, two RBI). 

Working the mound for Mount View were Draedyn Furrow and Kyle Ingraham. 

Austin Chilles tossed a complete game for Oceanside and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before he surrendered three singles. He fanned seven and walked two throughout the contest. 

Oceanside will take to the road again Friday, May 21 for a showdown against Waterville at 4 p.m. 

Mount View will challenge Camden Hills at home Friday, May 21 at 4:30 p.m.
