No Labels Party has officially withdrawn as a political party in Maine
No Labels party has officially withdrawn as a political party in Maine. Secretary of State Shenna Bellows announced the news on October 2, 2025.
“In June of 2024, No Labels notified our office that they no longer planned to remain a qualified party," said Secretary Bellows. "However, at that time there was no mechanism in Maine law to allow a party to withdraw its party status once it had become qualified."
The Secretary of State introduced a proposal to the Maine Legislature that would allow a qualified party to voluntarily dissolve their party by filing a written request, signed by the party’s chair, with the Secretary of State. The proposal passed and became law on September 24, 2025. The provision is retroactive to January 1, 2024, and the No Labels Party was disqualified as of September 24, 2025.
“All voters who were previously enrolled in the No Labels Party have been updated to unenrolled,” Secretary Bellows. “Any Maine voter who would like to change their party enrollment can do so utilizing our online over registration portal.”
The online voter registration portal established in 2024 is at www.maine.gov/vote.
