Neal Harkness: 'I ask that the voters of Belfast allow me to serve another term on the Council'
It has been my great privilege to serve the people of Belfast on the City Council, representing Ward 2. During my time on the Council, we have seen a great deal of progress.
We finished the Harbor Walk and the Rail Trail. We built the new public works yard and brought in new low income housing with the Wight Street and Congress Street projects.
Belfast became the first community in the Midcoast to host an official Hanukkah celebration and the first to have a Pride parade. We established our own community radio station, WBFY.
I am especially proud of the city and community’s response to Covid with the creation of the Keep The Faith Fund.
I believe these achievements were made possible because we had a Council that was balanced between the fresh perspective of newcomers and the experience of more veteran councilors. New ideas and approaches are vital, but so is institution knowledge.
I ask that the voters of Belfast allow me to serve another term on the Council and help the city continue to make progress for all its residents.
Neal Harkness lives in Belfast and is running for reelection to the City Council
