Mountain Street in Camden is back in business and open to vehicular traffic

Following the Sept. 10 sudden rupture of a six-inch water main six feet underground, and the subsequent collapse of Mountain Street (Route 52) at the intersection of Spring Street in Camden, all systems are now back in working order following fast work by local contractors.
The 100-year-old pipe has been repaired and the street rebuilt there as of Sept. 15. Traffic is now flowing along the well-used state Route 52, which runs from downtown Camden alongside Megunticook Lake, to Lincolnville Center, and eventually to Belfast.
It is a commuter road, and drivers no longer have to make a detour along the quieter Camden residential roads to get to, and from, downtown Camden.
