Mount View baseball edges Oceanside

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside and Mount View varsity baseball teams squared off Friday, May 28 in Rockland for what was a close contest. 

The visiting Mustangs (9-6) edged out the host Mariners (6-9) by a score of 5-3. 

Mount View plated two runs in the second and three runs in the four inning while tallying seven hits, committing one error and stranding six runners on base. 

Oceanside plated a run in the first inning and two in the sixth inning while racking up 14 hits, committing two errors and abandoning 13 base runners. 

Mount View’s Draedyn Furrow was his team’s lone repeat hitter with a single, double and two RBI. Noah Hurd, meanwhile, contributed a two-run home run. 

Repeat hitters for Oceanside included Finnegan Lynch (two singles), Austin Chilles (two singles, double), Alex Bartlett (two singles) and Duncan Oakes-Nelsen (two singles). 

Pitching for Oceanside were Oakes-Nelsen and Nathaniel Barnard, while Declan Knowlton and Kyle Ingram pitched for Mount View. 

The next contest for Mount View will be Tuesday, June 1 in a regular season finale contest against Belfast at home at 4 p.m.

The next contest for Oceanside will be at home Wednesday, June 2 in a regular season finale showdown against Medomak Valley at 4 p.m.
