Most Improved Student awards, mascot reveal assembly at Thomaston Grammar
Thomaston Grammar School held a pep rally and assembly on May 1 revealing the new school mascot name and recognizing the NextGen Sea Dog’s Most Improved Students.
Throughout the past several weeks, staff and students have had the opportunity to suggest and vote on a name for the school seal mascot. Although there were many fine choices, the majority of the TGS community chose the name Sailor. Students learned a new school cheer and erupted with applause when a new seal mascot surfaced into the gym.
With the help of Sailor, this year’s Most Improved Students were presented with a certificate from the Sea Dogs and a complimentary ticket to a Sea Dogs game. Students receiving this award included: Charlotte Ahearn, Hailey Ames, Kaleb Barnard, Scarlett Carver, Landon Chipman, Adeline Dorey, Dresden Fairfield, Elodie Fournier, Jaxon Gage, Ryleigh Gagnon, Ella Hamlin, Lily Hatch, Wyatt Hendron, Zoey Hendron, Marley Johnson, Logan King, Adelina Klis, Anastasia Magnoli, James Magnoli, Madison Marchio, Autumn Morin, Calvin Paul, Anthony Pittocco, Essie Ross, Gabe Ross, Giuliana Rubino, Everleigh Sutter, Ellia Tucker, Killian Walsh, and Opal Wellman.
Following the presentation of awards, a student from each grade level and a staff member were randomly selected to win a furry seal hat. The lucky winners included: Paige Feltis, Mallku Bertocci, Evelyn Milton, Zayn Rounds, Jayden Callahan, Aubrey Thurston, and Lisa Collins.
Prior to the assembly, all TGS students were given a TGS T-shirt. TGS staff and students wore their school T-shirts to the assembly and immediately following the presentation, a full-school photo was taken.
It was an amazing day showcasing our school mascot and school pride!
