WINTERPORT — Michael Paul Trask, “Iron Mike”, 74, of Winterport, Maine, passed away on August 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on March 17, 1952, in Old Town, Maine, to Beatrice and Paul Trask. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1974. Mike was a proud member of Local 496 Iron Workers until his retirement. After a few years of retirement, he returned to work for Devoe Construction, where he continued doing what he enjoyed in his position as the “moral booster”.
Mike married Patricia Trask in 1971, and together they enjoyed many years raising their children and watching their family grow through their grandchildren. Anyone who knew Mike knew that he was the heart of the Trask family and loved his family deeply. He cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, and their home was always the gathering place for family, filled with laughter, stories, and memories.
In addition to his love for his family and friends, Mike was an avid Red Sox fan and spoke fondly of his time as a baseball and basketball coach throughout the years for his children and grandchildren. Mike loved hunting and looked forward to the camaraderie and time spent with family and friends at hunting camp every November. He was also known to make many daily trips to the store for scratch off tickets where he was well-known and appreciated for his kind and friendly interactions.
Mike was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and kind and generous heart. He had a nickname for everyone and made a point of making each person feel special and welcome. He cared for everyone he met, never judged others, and had a way of making people feel accepted just as they were. Mike loved camping, baseball, visiting with family and friends, and sharing stories. He especially enjoyed his walks with Patty and his beloved dog, Cedar. His humor and ability to make everyone feel welcome will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Patty; his children, Rusty and Dominica Trask, Doug and Brooke Trask, Christy and Aaron Paradis, Paul Trask and his partner Kyla Brown; and his grandchildren Luke Trask, Logan, Lydia, and Landon Powers, Tessa Dinardo and her partner, Trevor Palmer, Dylan and Chelsea Dinardo, Hanna Dinardo and her partner, Isaac Bushway, Ella Smith, Alana Thibodeau, and Benjamin, Cameron and Kaiden Trask. He also leaves behind his great-granddaughter, Scarlett Palmer; his sisters, Paula Trask and Rhonda Davis; his sister-in-law, Rebecca Trask; and many friends and community members who felt like family.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Alvin Paul and Beatrice Trask; his brother, Gerald Trask; his brothers-in-law, Scott Davis and Larry Bowden; and his grandson Colby Trask.
A graveside service will be held August 29, 2026, at 1 p.m., at Oak Hill Cemetery in Winterport. A gathering to celebrate Mike’s life will follow from 2 - 4 p.m., at 846 North Main Street, in Winterport.
