DAMARISCOTTA — The Medomak Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team hit the road Monday, Dec. 2 to challenge Great Salt Bay in Damariscotta.

Medomak held quarterly advantages of 24-15, 24-15 and 31-24 en route to a 33-27 victory.

Scoring for Medomak were Olivia Pelkey (15 points), Sara Nelson (two), Haley Puchalski (three), Eliza Luce (five) and Kylie Blake (six).

Scoring for Great Salt Bay were Maya Bessey (two points), Annie Prasler (five), Maya Cannon (six), Katherine McKenney (11) and Elizabeth Bethman (one).

“This is a very tough team, and we new we had a task ahead of us,” said Medomak coach Celia Philbrick.

Despite the visiting Riverhawks coming out nervous in the first quarter, according to Philbrick, the Riverhawks played well after settling in and executed “very solid” man coverage throughout the contest.

“Everyone did what they needed to do for us to come out with the win,” said Philbrick. “They left everything on the floor and as a coach that’s all you can ask for.”

Medomak’s next game will come Wednesday, Dec. 4 at home against Oceanside.
