Martha Proulx and Madison Cook will serve our schools and students well in RSU 71
I am writing to express my support for both Martha Proulx and Madison Cook for the school board of RSU 71.
I’m voting for Martha Proulx because she has dedicated her career to child welfare and has already served thoughtfully and effectively on the board. Her experience and insight have been a real asset to our schools.
I am also writing in Madison Cook. I have known Madison since she was a whip-smart fifth grader in my son’s class at Capt. Albert Stevens School. She has always had a keen mind and a strong work ethic. Recently, she impressed me with her thoughtful questions about the district where I have taught since 1994—questions about our curriculum, the challenges students face, the strengths of our schools, and how we can attract and retain excellent teachers amid a statewide shortage.
That day, Madison had been canvassing in East Belfast and was on her way to visit the Waldo County Technical Center. She brings a fresh perspective, shaped by her generation’s experiences and values. As a digital native, she understands the 21st-Century challenges facing Gen Z, Gen Alpha, and beyond. Madison approaches issues with openness, equity, and a genuine desire to see every child in our district succeed.
I believe both Martha and Madison will serve our schools — and our students — exceptionally well.
