Marjorie A. Briggs, obituary
Marjorie A. Briggs passed away on 11 May 2026 peacefully in her own home with her husband and four children by her side.
She was born and raised in Belfast, April 1942. She attended and graduated from Crosby High School. In 1960 she married her husband, William Briggs. They were married for 65 years. She raised four children: Ricky, Mark, William, and Holly. Marjorie loved children and spent much of her spare time babysitting others.
She and her husband moved to Denver where he attended military school. Her second child was born in Colorado. They returned to Belfast in June of 1966. Later in 1969, the family moved to Hampden, Maine, and her two younger children were born. Marjorie and William continued to reside in Hampden.
Marjorie was active with the girl scouts for many years. Some of her past employment included Hannaford, Shaw’s, Gifford’s Ice Cream, and the Air National Guard Commissary. She liked to travel, especially cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. She enjoyed working on puzzles, word books, and watching birds.
She is survived by her husband, William; her children Rick and his wife Janet, Mark, William Briggs, and Holly Colson and her husband James. Marjorie loved her 8 grandchildren and 3 great-children. She is survived by two brothers; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces, and nephews, all who were incredibly special to her.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
A gathering will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10 a.m., at Riposta Funeral Home, in Belfast, Maine. Directly followed by a graveside ceremony at the Grove Cemetery in Belfast.
