MaineHealth Dental Care Clinic Belfast receives $16,000 grant
BELFAST — MaineHealth Dental Care Clinic Belfast, formerly Waldo County Dental Care, has received a $16,000 grant from United Midcoast Charities. The clinic seeks to increase access to dental care for low-income uninsured adults in Waldo County. The grant funds will be used for operating expenses.
Dental services provided by the clinic include cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings and extractions. In some cases, dentures are offered, although additional fees may apply.
The clinic serves pediatric patients who have MaineCare as well as patients who are 18 years of age and older who live in Waldo County and have not seen a dentist in the previous 12 months. Income guidelines start at $30,120 for one person and increase for each additional person in the family unit.
Dental Care Clinic Manager Valerie Curtis said that while patients might be scheduled out several weeks to months for non-emergent dental care appointments, the practice holds space to accommodate dental emergencies.
