Part of the mission of the Belfast Marine Institute at Belfast Area High School is to offer opportunities for students to earn quality credentials and certifications in marine-related activities. BMI just wrapped up its classroom and pool portion of yet another Basic Open Water Scuba Certification dive course.

Similar to the one completed in November, the classroom instruction and pool skills demonstration make up the confined water part of the class. This new group will finish their certification process upon completion of two Open Water check-out dives in May, one in the ocean and the other in a freshwater lake.

"We are happy to announce for anyone interested that another scuba certification course will take place in the spring, please contact us for details," said Charles Lagerbom, in a news release.
