Kevin O’Donnell, obituary
LINCOLNVILLE — Kevin O’Donnell, 48, loving husband and father of three children, passed away from ALS on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Kevin had been the strength of his family; with his sarcastic humor, he always knew how best to lighten the mood. His greatest and best role in life was that of Dad to Indra, Oaklee and Orla.
Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Kevin moved to Ohio when he was nine. He graduated from Willoughby South High School before attending college at Baldwin Wallace. He played college basketball, studied Sports Management, and formed lifelong friendships. After college, Kevin moved to Arizona and then to Yellowstone National Park in 2000. It was when working there that he met his devoted wife, Vanessa. Together they honed their love of travel and “retired in their twenties,” living by the Grand Tetons in Idaho, on the Big Island in Hawaii, and by Mount Rainier in Washington.
They eventually settled in Bellingham, Washington, spending summers living on their sailboat, sailing around the San Juan Islands. In the winter they lived in White Pass, Washington, where Kevin ran a private ski club. They moved to Kennebunk, Maine in 2010, and Kevin got his Business Degree from the University of Southern Maine.
Kevin and Vanessa started their family in 2013 they had three children together: Indra, Oaklee and Orla.
For most of his life, Kevin worked in real estate and the boating industry earning his Captain’s license. They moved to Lincolnville in 2015. He was a hard worker, loved to and was most happy when exploring nature. A natural athlete, Kevin created and tested new ways to have fun in the world, always pushing his body. These times his smile would light up your heart which was a true joy to experience.
Kevin was a focused and committed father. He had a passion for life and never missed an opportunity to ski, sail or bike. He worked hard and made time to enjoy life. During his free time, he taught Indra, Oaklee and Orla how to enjoy the outdoors and sports. He loved watching them grow and learn. When it was too dark to play outside, he read with them every night.
Kevin loved his children and was an amazing role model. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
