Join artists Ingrid Ellison, Ken Foster, Rachel Houlihan, Michael Rich and Hillary Steinau on Pearl Street in Camden as they open their studios to the public on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

"Pearl Street Open Studios is a celebration of visual arts and the creative process offering a unique opportunity for visitors to meet the artists in their studios," said Ellison, in a news release. "Come browse finished work, discuss works in progress and see what inspires these artists to make their work. You might even take home something new for your walls."

Ellison provides the following artist bios. 

-13 Pearl Street:Ingrid Ellison’s work crosses many disciplines from painting and collage to textiles and text. Ingrid’s work is inspired by subtle changes observed in the natural world and is an ongoing engagement with place and memory. While depicting details from her garden her work also offers viewers a glimpse into an ever evolving interior landscape. Gardens are also open.

-15 Pearl Street: Rachel Houlihan is a plein air painter inspired by the color in the world around her. Raised on a small farm in Maine she is happiest now to call home amidst her gardens in Camden. Her oil paintings depict scenes ranging from hikes with her dogs to the bountiful flowers and vegetables in her own back yard. Gardens are also open.

-16 Pearl Street:Michael Rich makes oil and encaustic portraits of our time. Michael is drawn to suggestion and the unsaid. He treats the landscape as a site of process, transiency and material circulation. His tools include paintings and photographs as source material. Mike has exhibited in Maine and New York.

-18 Pearl Street: Ken Foster is a painter, bookmaker, architectural designer, and woodworker/builder. His studio/shop space is a multifunctional space that allows all of these disciplines to come together. Many of Ken’s paintings and sketches depict local scenes and personalities as well as serve to record his extensive travels abroad. 

-82 Pearl Street: Hillary Steinau is a painter, designer and educator. Her colorful graphic paintings explore quiet narratives of daily life. Her bright playful approachable work is a reminder that a painting can bring beauty and delight into one’s world. Her practice spans a range of media including tiny paintings on matchbooks, monoprints on paper and large scale pieces on wood panels. Gardens are also open.
