Good Tern Co-op to celebrate 45th anniversary with community bash
On Saturday, October 4, The Good Tern Natural Foods Co-op will celebrate 45 years in operation with a Community Bash at the store, 750 Main Street in Rockland, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
"We’re throwing a party in the parking lot, and everyone is invited," said Good Tern Co-op Board President Stefan Durham said. "There will be live music, dancing, food, a reception for a Staff art show, and activities for kids. Save the date: it will be fun for the whole family!”
One featured band will be local bluegrass duo Grassquatch, with John Ganz on guitar and Dan Sowder on mandolin.
At the Community Bash, the Good Tern will welcome special guest Rochelle Gerratt, who in 1980 helped transform the Good Tern Co-op from a buying club to a cooperatively-owned storefront on South Main Street in Rockland. All are welcome to celebrate together the Good Tern’s long life with this opportunity to connect, reconnect, socialize, and reminisce with each other and the Midcoast community.
"The Good Tern Co-op is a local independent food store and so much more," said General Manager Erin Donovan. "On October 4, we’ll celebrate and thank those who started the Good Tern and created and have sustained the Good Tern community throughout its history.”
More information about musicians and vendors will be coming soon. Any local businesses interested in participating in the event may contact Donovan at 207-594-8822.
