Arlene D. (Varney) Harriman, obituary
BELFAST — Arlene D. (Varney) Harriman passed away on August 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Belfast, Maine. Arlene was born in Camden, Maine on October 28, 1952, to Howard Varney and Marion (Lane) Varney.
Arlene grew up in the Camden-Rockport area and graduated from Camden-Rockport High School. She was a stay-at-home mom until her girls were older and was a Girl Scout leader during that time. Arlene decided to attend cosmetology school and became a beautician and worked at various salons before deciding to open her own salon, “Curl up and Dye”. She ran a very successful business for 20+ years before retiring.
Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family; she also enjoyed camping very much. Arlene was a very caring mother, mimi, wife and friend. She was always happy, which made it easy for her to make many friends.
Arlene was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Marion Varney; by her sister Esther Davies; and by her daughter Traci (Clukey) Perry.
Surviving are her loving husband, Tracy E. Harriman of Belfast, Maine; her daughter Laurie Haynes and her partner Rick of Lincolnville, Maine; her sister Susan Willey of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; her brother-in-law Chris Davies of Londonderry, New Hampshire; her treasured grandchildren, John Haynes, Angel Haynes, Makayla Christensen, all of Lincolnville, Maine; Jasmine and Audrey Elkins (Axel) from Texas; her niece Debbie (Willey) Anderson of Breman, Maine; Rhiannon Davies and her husband Adam Vadney, Megan Davies and her partner Tom of Londonderry, New Hampshire; a nephew, Jeremy Willey of Owls Head, his son Colby Willey and Colby’s daughter Ellie; a great niece, Tasha Anderson of Breman, Maine and her son Ace; a great nephew, Trevor Anderson of Breman, Maine, Trenton Parkhurst, and Tanner Vadney of New Hampshire; a cousin, Richard Eaton, and many more cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10 - 11 a.m., at the Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, Maine, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service.
