Flags lowered in honor of General Colin Powell

    In accordance with a directive of the President, Governor Janet Mills ordered that United States and State of Maine flags be lowered to half-staff immediately, Monday, October 18, until sunset on Friday, October 22, 2021 in honor of the life and legacy of former U.S. Secretary of State, General Colin Powell.

    “General Powell served our nation in the military, as an advisor to four presidents, and as our nation’s top diplomat,” said Governor Janet Mills, in a news release. “His lifetime of service deserve the gratitude of our nation. On behalf of Maine people, I extend condolences to his family and loved ones.”
