'Explore Patagonia' presentation with Alan and Norma Athearn
Join Penobscot Bay Language School and guests Alan and Norma Athearn, Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 p.m., at the Rockland Public Library, for a travel presentation about Patagonia’s endless natural wonders, unique geography, culture, and significant history as one of the southernmost ports in South America.
Guest presenters Norma and Alan Athearn, who participated last March in a locally organized group trip to Patagonia, "have returned with amazing stories, photos, and tips on how to get the most out of a once in a lifetime trip like this," said the Library, in a news release. Audience members will learn about the area’s geography, view stunning photographs featuring Alan’s expert lens – capturing birds, animals, seascapes, mountain ranges, and glaciers, according to the news release.
Penobscot Bay Language School has been offering a variety of group travel opportunities for students of all ages. Following numerous immersion trips to Spain and France, local guide Nelson Sanchez-Oyarzo, a native of the Chilean city of Punta Arenas–the southern gateway to Patagonia, joined the PBLS travel team to launch a Patagonia group trip with the school. Last March four brave participants joined Nelson on a ten-day adventure in one of UNESCO’s most celebrated natural wonders of the world.
