Fire crews extinguish house fire in South Thomaston
SOUTH THOMASTON — South Thomaston firefighters and their mutual aid fought a fire at 237 Waterman's Beach Road, Thursday. The call came in at approximately 12 p.m., Thanksgiving Day.
All occupants were able to evacuate safely, along with a dog. However, two cats are unaccounted for.
The majority of the exterior damage to the two-story wood structure residents appeared to be on the side of the house where bedrooms are located. However, firefighters found interior fire in other locations as well.
The Fire Marshal's Office has been notified.
Assisting mutual aid came from Thomaston, Warren, Owls Head, and Rockland. St. George arrived eventually, having been called to Whitehouse Island approximately 10 minutes prior, following a report of smoke around the roof of a boathouse. Rockport FD covered Rockland Fire Station.
Elsewhere around the same time, Friendship Fire was called to a smoke alarm investigation. That response was cancelled after confirmation that the smoke was from a cooking error.
