Cushing Community School students to hold annual plant, seedling and bake sale fundraiser, June 1
The Cushing Community School students have been busy growing vegetables and flowers from seed, and creating informational posters to be ready for their fourth annual plant, seedling, and bake sale, Sunday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The fundraiser is a collaborative effort by the teaching staff, the CCS Family and Friends Group, and the Georges River Land Trust, who will host the event at the Langlais Art Preserve on 576 River Road in Cushing, rain or shine.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit all students at CCS, and funds raised this year will be used to help provide a variety of outdoor learning spaces for them to enjoy and connect with the land and environment that surrounds them. Thanks to local residents and community businesses for their support: River Road Farm, Bull Run Farm, Saltwater Farm, Haynes Farm, E.L. Spear Lumber and Hardware, and Walmart.
Beyond seedlings, the students welcome Honey Petal Plants, which will be there with plants native to Maine and the Northeast for sale, and helpful information to help customers choose and care for them.
The students still welcome perennials from the community at large, and plants to be donated should be dropped off at the Preserve on Saturday May 31, between the hours of 1 - 5 p.m.
Last, but not least, count on finding a delicious snack at the CCS Bake Sale, and donations of baked goods can be delivered during the Saturday hours or between 8 and 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Take the whole family as everyone will also enjoy the incredible sculptures and trails at Langlais Art Preserve, one of Cushing’s true treasures.
