Civic Engagement and Health presentation at Rockland library
Maine Public Health Association (MPHA) hosts “Civic Engagement & Health,” Thursday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. This presentation and discussion, co-hosted by AARP Maine and the Rockland Public Library, will share information about non-partisan state and federal advocacy efforts and how people can get involved in their communities to promote health.
From healthcare and education to infrastructure and the environment, decisions made in Washington, D.C. and Augusta shape the health of communities in Maine.
"Together, we will explore the basics of civic engagement, explain how federal and state policies affect Maine communities, and share ways you can stay informed and involved," said the Library, in a news release.
Speakers are:
● Becca Boulos, PhD, MPH (Executive Director, MPHA)
● Matt Wellington (Associate Director, MPHA)
● Noël Bonam (State Director, AARP Maine)
"We also want to hear from you about your community health priorities," said RPL. "Whether you're new to advocacy or just want to better understand how government decisions impact our state, we hope you will join us for this discussion."
